The A. Lange & Sohne 1815 was named after year of birth of Adolph Lange, the founder of A. Lange & Sohne 1815. The first A. Lange & Sohne 1815 was released in 1995. It was a classic three-hand model with manual-winding movement. This year, The A. Lange & Sohne 1815 welcomed a brand-new model- the Richard Lange Pour le Merite watch.(Pour Le Merite-For Merit is nearly 100 years old and is still awarded sometimes in Germany and parts of Europe).
The case is enlarged to 40.5mm at diameter. With a simple yet elegant look, the case is presented on either 18K rose gold or platinum. The white dial, like all A. Lange & Sohne, offers admirable legibility. The hand-crafted blued steel hands pose bright contrast again the pure white dial with black slim Roman numerals.
The Richard Lange Pour le Merite watch is driven L044.1 a manual-winding and hand-crafted movement which is exclusively developed and manufactured by A. Lange & Sohne. The most interesting part about this movement is that it is fitted with a very special and highly complex mechanism composed of 636 parts. It is called fusee chain. The mechanism, connected to the mainspring barrel like a tiny bicycle chain, has two main functions. Firstly, it helps the mainspring deliver a balanced and consistent level of power release rather than an uneven one. The consistency of the power release is achieved thanks to the fact that the fusee chain is wound around a cone shaped cylinder which winds at a different rate. Secondly, the fusee chain assists to ensure the safe winding of the main spring.
The Richard Lange Pour le Merite watch remains the classic design that counts part of A. Lange & Sohne”s well-treasured heritage while showing A. Lange & Sohne’s courage and strength to produce the most complex movement in this planet. Original Published by Watches Impressions
