At first sight, the delicate rose gold plated applied hour markers and rose gold plated hands of this new Oris Artelier Alarm reminds me of the Patek Philippe Ref. 5153 Calatrava officer’s watch that I reviewed earlier this year.
Well, as the name suggests, this new Oris watch has alarm function. As far as I know of, as early as as 1940s, Oris already made it name by making durable alarm clocks. But the Artelier Alarm can be regarded as a miracle of today’s watch-making technology to put an alarm on a wristwatch just sized at 42.50mm at diameter. And the alarm function is visualized through the central red pointer hand and operated through the crown at 4 o’clock.
As I mentioned at the beginning, stylish and refined though, the silver gray guilloche brass dial of this Oris watch has something in common with one Patek Philippe watch. And I love how the rose gold details show off the dial and the stainless steel case. To offer ideal reading in places of poor lighting, each hour marker is accompanied with a luminous dot and the hands have Superluminova inlay.
Beating inside the case is a highly sophisticated mechanical automatic movement with a date complication displayed at 6 o’clock. The crown at 2 o’clock operates the standard watch function and the date.The case itself is composed of several pieces and fixed together by 8 screws. It has also fitted with sapphire glass domed on both sides with inner anti-reflective coating
The Oris Artelier Alarm comes with either stainless steel bracelet or a dark brown Louisiana crocodile leather strap. It is secured to the wrist by a stainless steel folding safety clasp.
With practical alarm function and elegant design, this new Oris watch that shows the superb skills of Oris’ Swiss craftsmen is an intelligent choice for anyone who loves mechanical watches.
