Review of the Jaeger-Lecoultre Extreme Lab 2

In recent years, Jaeger Lecoultre’s Extreme Lab 2 always steal the show whereever it apprears. At 39,000€, I afraid you can not get another watch that has been equipped with as many as complications like Extreme Lab 2. Aside from having a technically competitive price, it may start a brand new direction for the brand, which I think is much more important. And the controversy on this piece never stop these years, which, in my humble opinion, proves that it is really a successful piece. In fact, it is indeed a hot seller

The watch, composed of more than 500 parts, has a TiVan 15 case, an adjustable buckle and a ceramic bezel. The watch functions/complications include a radial power reserve indicator, digital minutes 24-hour chrono, date, GMT, function selector, anti-magnetic mechanism, reset to zero seconds. And you may feel you have a bargain after browsing the long list above. And the watch is limited to just 500 pieces, 300 pieces in titanium and 200 pieces in rose gold.

Based on the first Extreme Lab, the Extreme Lab 2 carried not a few the original design and technical features. The size has been increased to 46mm, which may make most Jaeger customers a bit difficult to accept. Luckily , it has two lovely features that can make up the size issue. Firstly, it inherits the Extreme Lab 1’s strap ball-bearing mechanism; Secondly, the case bottom has comfortable curvature. These two features ensure the wearer an idea fit and comfortable wearing experience

And the watch actually looks much better on the wrist than o=off the wrist. And the watch has other flaws. The is not easy to read the time clear at night though it has large hands and indices. I think the problem comes from the fact that the minutes hand is too long and its tip just cover the indices. At night due to the lack of Luminova, the tip just disappears when in front of any of the indices making the hours and minutes almost indistinguishable. And the white and red color combination is not clear enough for the power reserve. Personally, I think white and black should be a much better option.

Despite the above mentioned flaws and regrets, The Extreme Lab 2 is still a great watch deserve attention and the price tag.

Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Chronograph Racing Limited Edition For Paris Boutique

Following the great success of the two AMVX2 chronograph racing watches launched at Le Mans 2009, famous watch manufacturer Jaeger-Lecoultre decides to create the new AMVOX2 Chronograph Racing watch exclusive for the brand’s Boutique in Paris, Place Vendome.  To pay tribute to the Aston Martin Racing team that reached excellent results in the 2009 edition of Le Mans 24 Hours, the new AMVX2 is fittingly limited to 20 pieces. In addition, the watch is also created to celebrate the happy three-year cooperation between Jaeger-LeCoultre and Aston Martin. And the watch is set to be available in December 2009.

The new AMVX2 has a 44m case done in grade 5 titanium with fine black PVD case. The dial is available in black and white. Inspired by the car radiator grills, the dial features the iconic grid-work motif and has a black flange. The steel hour markers and Arabic numerals are applied by hand and coated with luminescent materials.

Beating inside the watch is the  Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 751E, an automatic movement beats at 28,800VPH and has 65-hour power reserve. This movement provides central hours and minutes, date and chronograph functions which are operated through the brand’s innovative vertical-trigger system. The movement also receives fine finishes: the bridges and plates are ruthenium-coated, and the the chronograph levers comes with orange eloxed aluminium, which grabs attention through the open work between 4 and 8 o’clock of the dial.

The new new AMVX2 is completed by a perforated calfskin strap with a steel folding clasp featuring PVD-coating.

The Retail price of Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Chronograph Racing watch is likely to be 20,000 dollars. And the watch is water resistant to 50 meters.

This user-friendly function is achieved thanks to the a miniature transmitter system that has been incorporated into the watch. Pressing the Open position between 8 and 9 o’clock on the glass, the driver can immediately open the car, whereas pressing the CLOSE position between 3 and 4 o’clock will lock the car. The AMVOX2 Rapide Transponder is also a fine-looking watches displays two-tone contrast. The case is actually presented on brushed grade 5 titanium while the lugs, crown and the base is crated from satin-brushed 18K rose gold. And the dial seems to play the same trick: the dial is in black with a grille-type motif while the hands, hour markers and the skeletionized Rapide symbol,near 12 o ‘clock are gilded with rose gold. The Aston Martin win emblem is included in the movement operating indicator at 6 o’clock. And there is a window in the center that displays the mainplate and bridges of the movement. And for the very first time in AMVOX2 watch line, the chronograph subdials are done in aluminum.
