Hermes 36mm Clipper Chronograph Ladies Watch Review

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

High fashion brand Hermes has a good news for ladies who love high end watches.-It is going to release the 36mm Clipper chronograph ladies watch just after the launch of the Hermes Clipper Chronograph Titanium watch. Hermes watches, like its leather goods, are high priced and high quality. You may dislike their high pricing, but you can not deny they are very well made. Unlike watch offering from other fashion brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Gucci, they are pretty nice looking. Through I can not afford the high price tags either, I am 100% fan of Hermes watches.

Hermes 36mm Clipper Chronograph Ladies Watch

Like most ladies watches, the Hermes ladies model is powered by a quartz movement rather than a mechanical one. Personally, I think that is fine as most women attach greater importance to watch appearance than to watch movement. The silver mother of pearl dial has easy-to- read layout and simple yet nice color contrast. The bezel is added with a luxury touch via rare white or rare white plus diamonds. And the watch is completed by a high quality rubber strap. The white for the gem version, and the orange for the no-gem version.

This ladies watch from Hermes will be perfect when matched with casual or sporty watch. It will also be a great companion for any outdoor sport. If you decide it is the watch for you and you can afford the high price tag, keep an eye on which day it will hit the stores Sometimes, a women should find something gorgeous to spoil herself like a gorgeous princess, no matter how old she is.By the way, the watch will be exhibited at the upcoming Baselworld 2010.

Review of the Jaeger-Lecoultre Extreme Lab 2

Friday, February 26th, 2010

In recent years, Jaeger Lecoultre’s Extreme Lab 2 always steal the show whereever it apprears. At 39,000€, I afraid you can not get another watch that has been equipped with as many as complications like Extreme Lab 2. Aside from having a technically competitive price, it may start a brand new direction for the brand, which I think is much more important. And the controversy on this piece never stop these years, which, in my humble opinion, proves that it is really a successful piece. In fact, it is indeed a hot seller

The watch, composed of more than 500 parts, has a TiVan 15 case, an adjustable buckle and a ceramic bezel. The watch functions/complications include a radial power reserve indicator, digital minutes 24-hour chrono, date, GMT, function selector, anti-magnetic mechanism, reset to zero seconds. And you may feel you have a bargain after browsing the long list above. And the watch is limited to just 500 pieces, 300 pieces in titanium and 200 pieces in rose gold.

Based on the first Extreme Lab, the Extreme Lab 2 carried not a few the original design and technical features. The size has been increased to 46mm, which may make most Jaeger customers a bit difficult to accept. Luckily , it has two lovely features that can make up the size issue. Firstly, it inherits the Extreme Lab 1’s strap ball-bearing mechanism; Secondly, the case bottom has comfortable curvature. These two features ensure the wearer an idea fit and comfortable wearing experience

And the watch actually looks much better on the wrist than o=off the wrist. And the watch has other flaws. The is not easy to read the time clear at night though it has large hands and indices. I think the problem comes from the fact that the minutes hand is too long and its tip just cover the indices. At night due to the lack of Luminova, the tip just disappears when in front of any of the indices making the hours and minutes almost indistinguishable. And the white and red color combination is not clear enough for the power reserve. Personally, I think white and black should be a much better option.

Despite the above mentioned flaws and regrets, The Extreme Lab 2 is still a great watch deserve attention and the price tag.

Girard Perregaux Laureato Quartz Watch

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Not a few people know and love high-end quartz watches by Girard Perregaux. And few people know that is Seiko that made the first quartz watch in 1969, and Girard Perregaux was one of the first Swiss watch brands that made quartz watches and it greatly contributed to the setting of the the quartz movement frequency standard-32.768 hertz. This standard is still adopted by most quartz watches. The new Girard Perregaux Laureato Quartz limited edition watch has the standard in red on the brand’s singnature octagon dial.

Girard Perregaux Laureato Quartz Watch

The new quartz watch is powered by a caliber GP13500 quartz movement that is assembled by hand and nicely decorated. Via the sapphire crystal on the case back, you can admire the movement with a gold cap on the the battery compartment.

The case and the bracelet are well constructed on steel. The red seconds hand and the red 32.768hz wording nicely set off the over dark hue that is decent, cool and attractive. The dial is simple yet stylish and very easy to read. Thanks to the quartz watch revolution, the watch is highly accurate. And that is one of its real allures. And the watch comes with a space presentation box with a nice retro touch.

The watch is limited to 40 pieces only. And I think the small quantity is far from being enough for the demand. The retail prices a bit over $11,000. I think many watch collectors will love the high-end Swiss quartz watch.

New Hermes Clipper Watches for 2010

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

World famous leather brand Hermes makes popular watches as well. The Hermes Clipper line, for example, has very hot diving watch models. This year, Hermes continues to enrich this money-making watch line with not a few new models. And it seems that Hermes not just makes high-end luxury watch-it start to step into mid-priced watch segment as well.

In the past, if you want to a luxury watch from French brand, Hermes was the best choice. But now things are different. With the rise of Ralph Lauren, Chanel watches and other brands, Hermes has to enlarge their watch ranges to win.

The new Clipper watch offering includes lots of models that come with various size options(smallest-22mm, largest -44mm) for both men and women. The watches are powered bySwiss ETA quartz or mechanical movements, depending on the models. And they come with adorable quality and style the brand is famous for.

I would like to take the Hermès Clipper Chronograph 44mm Titanium Watch(pictured) for example. As the name suggests, it has a 44mm titanium case. The dial design is heavily influenced by the IWC Aquatimer Chronograph, though you can find some hues of clipper character. But I am afraid the allure of the watch look will not last. To be honest, I really hope fashion brands like Hermes can create timeless classic watches rather than a instant fashion timepieces. By the way, the Clipper chronograph is available in back , orange or brown rubber, steel and titanium bracelet. Beating inside is an automatic Valjoux 7750 mechanical movement that has been nicely decorated.

Overall, the Hermes Clipper is the right line to choose from if you want to add a decent looking sporty watch.

Girard Perregaux 1966 Full Calendar-Palladium Version

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Girard Perregaux watches presented a batch of new watches for the SIHH2010. Obviously, this brand was a big supporter of the retro wind. And the new watches from their 1966 collections were big winner of the watch show.

Girard Perregaux 1966 Full Calendar-Palladium Version

Here comes one favorite model within Girard Perregaux’s new watch offerings-the 1966 Full Calendar Palladium limited edition watch that is very easy to read and very pleasant to eyes with 100% pure classic designs. As the name suggests, this watch is crafted from rare metal- palladium .This precious metal is extremely difficult to deal with. It has an adorable advantage over other precious materials such as gold: it is highly tarnish resistant and needs no rhodium plating. Beating inside the watch is the GP033M0 calibre-the brand’sa in-house made automatic movement. Aside from the time, it offers triple calendar and moon phase indicator. You can admire the gold automatic rotor of the movement via the display case back.. The thin case, sized at 40mm, is completed by a high quality alligator strap that wears very comfortable on the wrist.

The gray dial receives refined brushed finish. At first sight, you may feel the functions are a bit bunched up at the middle. In fact, it is this layout that saves the dial from been felt smaller than its real size to the eyes. And for the second sight, you will realize the how easy to read the dial is. The dial comes with 1966 style markers and hands, and it is slightly domed around the edges.

The 1966 Full Calendar is limited to just 1999 pieces world wide. The price is around $19,800.

The new Royal Oak Skeleton Watch by Audemars Piguet

Monday, February 8th, 2010

This is the new skeleton skeleton watch offering from Audemars Piguet Royal Oak line. I has never expected this watch woule be made. But I am not very suprising as this brand has offered not a few skelonized watches that are quite well-received.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Skeleton Watch-rose gold version

The watch, in stardard Royal Oak case, is crafted from stainless stainless or the rose gold. The Audemars Piguet in-house made automatic movementmovement has been nicely skeletonized and become the main theme of the dial. The surface of the exposed movement is given a decent gray look via refine rhodium plating. The case back is fitted with a sapphire crystal glass to reveal the 22k gold automatic rotor featuring exquisite engravings. The finish of the watch is perfect, and the function is excellent as well. The dial is still very easy to read thanks to the use of the chapter ring with applied luminous hour markers and minute indicators

Personally, I think this Royal Oak skeleton watch will attract not a few Audemars Piguet watches owner who want to add a watch with nice presentation of the movement. And this watch is also a good choice for those who love skeletonized watches.

The steel version, fitted with a steel bracelet, goes for $30,100; The rose gold version, with a brown crocodile strap, costs $45,500
